Spring is here, and with it comes the sun giving us a little more warmth and energy. After what feels like one our coldest winters in a long time, its good to be able to soak up some natural vitamin D and get some sewjo back. I know I'm certainly hoping that my new found energy will extend to the sewing room and my never ending pile of UFO's.
Fay recently held a very popular workshop called the Super, Quick and Easy Panel Quilt. This workshop used fabrics from the Paula Nadelstern range. It was the perfect quilt to feature her wonderful panels. But as we noted during last months Show and Tell, the pattern adapts very well to any feature fabric. Here are some photos of finished quilt tops.
We really look forward to seeing some more finished quilt tops, hopefully at this months WOW gathering.
This months WOW Gathering will be held on Friday the 19th of October (not the 12th). We hope to see as many of you there as possible. As we have changed the dates, could you please check with your WOW friends to make sure they are aware of the date change.
BBQ Day: In November at WOW we will be having the ever popular Grumpy Graham's BBQ Day. Graham will be taking expressions of interest in the BBQ at this months gathering. If you can't make it this month, but will be attending in Nov. and would like a BBQ lunch, please let Fay know.
CHRISTMAS GATHERING: Planning for the Christmas Gathering begins now in October. If you are unable to make it this month or next, but plan on coming to the Christmas Gathering on the 7th of December, please drop Fay a line and let her know whether you plan on bringing Savory or Sweets.
Once again we will also be holding Dear Jane, if you plan on participating it's probably time to start planning your gifts, whether home made or purchased. Remember it's not the size of the gift, but the thought and spirit of giving that counts.
2019 RETREAT: There are still places available for next years retreat, but they are limited. If you are interested in coming and have not yet contacted Fay with your expression of interest or registration, please do so as soon as possible.
CHARITY DAY: Due to so many unforseen circumstances, the planned Charity Day for this year will be cancelled - however, we do plan on rescheduling for early 2019 - please watch this space for more information.
CHARITY TABLE ITEMS: Please do not bring along any more magazines, books, fabric, patterns etc as donations to the Charity table raffles, sales etc. As much as we are VERY appreciative of your generosity and good will, we really need to do an inventory of the items that have been collated as we are rapidly running out of space to store everything.
BOOK AND PATTERN SALE: At the next WOW Gathering on Friday 19th of October - Fay will be holding a Book and Pattern sale of donations to the Charity table. These items have been very generously donated by Nancy Gheno. As the books and patterns are of a wonderful quality, they will not be gold coin donation. Instead they will be priced eg $2, $5 etc. These are wonderful items with something that is sure to appeal to everyone. Note: there will also be a magazine clearance and possibly also a raffle. All proceeds will go to the Royal Children's Hospital Charity that was chosen for this year.
NEW WORKSHOP: Fay's next workshop will be - Quick Method Double Wedding Ring.
Fay is now taking expressions of interest in this workshop. Please note: It will be a two day workshop. The date and cost of this workshop are yet to be determined, however it will be held early in 2019, possibly Jan or Feb.
