Christmas is just around the corner

With Christmas not too far away Fay has started planning the WOW Christmas Lunch which will be held on Friday the 8th of December.

It's always a wonderful day with plenty of wonderful homemade food to eat, plenty of generosity from the wonderful ladies who take part in the Dear Jane gift giving and always lots of laughs and fabulous show and tell. If you would like to join in on the festivities please contact Fay as soon as possible.

In the meantime we had a very busy month in October....

We started the month with a workshop - Strip Pieced Hexagons by Machine.

We had a great day with 14 ladies becoming quickly addicted to this wonderful technique of piecing together hexagons on the machine. It will be exciting to see these hexagon quilts come together and the various interpretations of this technique. It's a technique which could easily be adapted to creating place mats, table centres, coasters and even a Christmas Tree Skirt.

On the following Friday we had a WOW gathering.

These Sit and Sew days are becoming very popular, every month we are seeing new faces and even some familiar faces that we haven't seen for a while. Some of the new ladies are friends of regulars, while others are ladies who used to attend Fays shop or returnees. It's great to see the fabulous progress being made on quilts that Fay has taught or helped the ladies design. We had such a variety of show and tell, and those that did not attend the Hexagon class were wowed by the variety of fabrics used and how quickly they were coming together. For more photos: Visit our Flickr Album

In the beginning of November we had a Construction Day.

It was very productive, and even though we were making very simple, but practical items, we made plenty of them. Fay spent the morning working on the cord safety mats, while Rosemary and Karin sewed the extension cord wraps for In2quilting, (I did the cutting, pressing and turning through). After a late lunch we started on the Iron cord keeps and the small cord keeps for the charity table. We were pretty chuffed with how much we achieved and finished the day off with a quick look through the fabric and unfinished projects that had been donated. The next construction day will be soup bowl cosies and small block books.

Fay has fallen in love with the Moda Range of Grunge fabrics.

Over the coming months Fay will be building on her stock allowing for a "Grunge Fat Quarter Club" to be formed. Every six weeks or so members of the club will be able to purchase a fat quarter bundle of Grunge fabrics to add to their stash. The first bundle should be ready in December. If you are interested in joining please contact Fay at in2quilting@bigpond.com

This coming Friday is WOW and it looks like it's going to be another big day, with plenty of ladies registered to attend, including some new faces and some old coming by for a visit. If you plan on coming, please remember to register with Fay beforehand.

Stay safe, stay calm & Keep Quilting

Annika
